Brisdelle contains only one active ingredient called paroxetine. The latter is an antidepressant which belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is a completely chemical substance generally used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Lately it has been used to treat hot flashes in women.

It is not recommended to use paroxetine if a patient is also taking thioridazine or pimozide, or if they are being treated with methylene blue injection. The same restriction concerns pregnant and nursing women. Avoid using an MAO inhibitor within two weeks before or after you take paroxetine because it can be very dangerous for your health. Besides, it is expensive even though it is available on many websites. This product may have a reverse effect and worsen your state. You are expected to have relief in four weeks only. It's too long!

There are good things about Brisdelle, however. It is non-hormonal and FDA-approved, at least, as the manufacturer claims. It can be easily bought any time online. It is easy to take - one pill a day. Taking all this information into consideration I cannot recommend Brisdelle to usage. The modern market offers many other products used for the treatment of hot flashes in women more effectively and without such great risks for health.
